On May 3, 2009, a rally was held at the Wisconsin State Capitol steps by members and
supporters of the Midwest Service Center for Quitting the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). Madison
was one of the 14 cities the group was toruing to promote awareness about the number of Chinese
people who have resigned from their membership with the CCP via the Epoch Times website and
urging more to join. Some members of the Wisconsin Tibetan Association were in attendance, and
its president, Thubden Singha, delivered an impassioned speech in support of the movement.
There were also other speakers in the gathering, including a falun gong member who was jailed in
China for five years.
