Congratulations to our 2021 PAMANA Scholars, Maya Barut and Ebba Harrison!

PAMANA is pleased to award $1,000 scholarship to this year's grant awardees. The award was announced during the Annual Member Meeting held on Sunday, May 2.

Children of PAMANA members planning to pursue higher education after high school can apply for a scholarship grant. The annual application deadline is April 15.

Maya Barut plans to major in biology at Grinnell College in Iowa where she has been offered a four-year Founder's Scholarship. Maya is a senior at the Madison East High School. She is a violinist for the Madison East High School Orchestra and a ballerina at Virginia Davis School of Dance. She was an intern at UW Madison LEAP Forward and served as assistant grader at Kumon Math & Reading Center of Sun Prairie. She runs for the Madison East High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Maya is a member of the National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society. She contributed a significant amount of time volunteering for PAMANA events, including Paskong Pinoy, the summer picnic, and cooking demonstrations to name a few. Maya is the daughter of Joseph and MarieRose Barut, long-time members of and active volunteer leaders in PAMANA.

Ebba Harrison plans to major in Interior Architecture at the UW Madison where she has been selected for the Mercile J. Lee Scholars program that includes a four-year, full tuition scholarship. Ebba is a senior at the Waunakee High School. She serves as vice president of her school’s Spanish National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. She is the co-editor of Sports Section of The Purple Sage. Ebba plays for the Waunakee High School Girls Basketball and Waunakee High School Girls Soccer teams. She volunteers for the Waunakee Neighborhood Connection, St. Peter Catholic Church and Waunakee Peer Tutor Center. Ebba is a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She is a Martin Luther King Jr. Outstanding Young Person and a Finalist for the Herb Kohl Student Excellence Award. Ebba is the daughter of board member and immediate past president Lynelle Harrison and Torben Harrison.

Summer Picnic Saturday, August 28 Following the Annual Member Meeting live response polling, our first in-person gathering for the year will take place on Saturday August 28. PAMANA has reserved the Lake County Park, Shelter 3 for the picnic.
